Web Hosting News – Philadelphia, PA - The best way for a business to go online is with help from web hosting resellers, according to new survey statistics released today. Through research conducted by Fasthosts Internet, a leading reseller web hosting provider, resellers know best when it comes to helping a small or medium business develop an online presence. Fasthosts surveyed 163 resellers to find out more about their experience as web hosts. Half of the resellers are actually considered a small business themselves and target local small and medium companies as potential customers. Interestingly enough, about 1 in 5 resellers communicate their services through online networking and more than 75 percent of resellers tailor their customer support on a case per case basis.
The latest Fasthosts survey shed light on who are today’s resellers. By far, statistics showed that the majority are small businesses who offer web solutions in addition to their established services. Totaling 50 percent of the response pool, small resellers appear to be the best resource for advice on the web (even though half of the respondents only have two to five employees). However, they are advising other SMBs in their surrounding communities with 58 percent of resellers marketing their services locally, or within 30 miles from their own address.

Web Hosting News – Amsterdam – LeaseWeb, one of Europe’s largest business hosting providers based in Amsterdam, has in a six-month period increased the bandwidth capacity of its hosting network from 500 to 750 Gigabits per second. A large increase in new clients, and especially the increased use of videos on websites, are key drivers behind the strong growth in Internet traffic.

This Internet traffic has increased tremendously. LeaseWeb’s network, which includes fiber-optic links and four data centers in the Amsterdam region, extends across the world via telecom carriers and Internet exchanges.

Web Hosting News – Portsmouth, NH – GlobalSign, Inc, one of the longest established Certification Authorities (CA) and specialists in SSL Certificate security, today announced Virgin Atlantic as the most recent major brand to migrate to its Extended Validation (EV) SSL technology to secure their public facing web site. EV SSL differs greatly from standard SSL making the browser address bar glow green, and providing visitors with visual reassurance that the site they are on is who they claim to be and that their personal information is secure.
EV SSL, perhaps the most significant advancement in how consumers view and understand security on the web, activates the glowing green address bar in the current generation of browsers including IE7 and 8, Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome and Safari and gives companies a means of visibly showing they are a trusted and authentic organization operating a legitimate web site. These extra visual indicators provide a clear business differentiator for online companies taking preventative action against today’s relentless phishing attacks. The adoption of EV SSL by Virgin Atlantic clearly shows its customers their strong ongoing commitment to online safety and security. Extended Validation Certificate support is now widespread and the benefits of increased protection against online fraud and brand abuse can be recognized by the majority of Virgin Atlantic’s online visitors.
