Web Host News – Overland Park, KS - Codero successfully completed the Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS) No. 70 audit used around the world for evaluating information security processes and control procedures. The rigorous certification process was created by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) which has been in place since 1992. The audit allows the Infrastructure-as-a-Service provider to remain transparent with customers in proving a secure system of internal controls is utilized.
SAS 70 Type II certification is an in-depth follow-up to Type I to verify and validate that a company is actually adhering to the procedures outlined in Type I and that they are operating effectively. Codero completed Type I certification for its data center and corporate-wide operations March 4, 2010 and promptly followed up with the Type II certification which will now be conducted annually.
As a hosting provider to renowned companies worldwide, Codero customers can save time and money by relying upon the certification to support their own audit requirements. The SAS Type II report may be used as a substitute for performing first-hand testing in conjunction with financial statement preparation or Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
“Mobile commerce companies are looking for Type II standards for their hosting solutions without the capital expenditures and operational expense of collocation,” said Arish Ali of Skava. “We chose Codero because of their rigorous business process standards and because they can offer us PCI compliant infrastructure management for a fraction of the cost of owning our own equipment and data canter,” he added.
According to Shawn Hashmi, Director, Operations at Codero, “A SAS 70 audit offers proof of our security expertise. It allows us to disclose our control activities and processes to our customers in a uniform reporting format that is widely recognized internationally and gives our customers confidence that Codero has the safeguards in place to meet their needs for the highest type of security.”

Web Host News – Amsterdam - The Number Resource Organization (NRO) announced today that less than five percent of the world’s IPv4 addresses remain unallocated. APNIC, the Regional Internet Registry for the Asia Pacific region, has been assigned two blocks of IPv4 addresses by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA). This latest allocation means that the IPv4 free pool dipped below 10% in January, just nine months ago. Since then, over 200 million IPv4 addresses have been allocated from IANA to the Regional Internet Registries (RIRs).
“This is a major milestone in the life of the Internet, and means that allocation of the last blocks of IPv4 to the RIRs is imminent,” states Axel Pawlik, Chairman of the Number Resource Organization (NRO), the official representative of the five RIRs. “It is critical that all Internet stakeholders take definitive action now to ensure the timely adoption of IPv6.” Continue reading “Remaining IPv4 Address Space Drops Below 5%” »
