Beginning three years following the close of the transaction, Equinix has the right, and in certain circumstances may be required, to acquire 100 percent of ALOG.

The investment will extend Platform Equinix to South America, creating a footprint of 95 data centers across 37 global markets. Data center space in Brazil gives Equinix the ability to satisfy strong demand from its network, content, cloud and financial services customers looking to establish a presence in this rapidly growing market. There is a large and ever-growing list of international industries and business sectors that are considered service organizations for purposes of ISAE 3402 compliance. The growth in outsourcing, combined with increased mandates for security, will force more international businesses to comply with ISAE 3402 in the future.

Service organizations receive significant value from having an ISAE 3402 engagement performed. A Service Auditor’s Report with an unqualified opinion that is issued by an Independent Accounting Firm differentiates an organization from its peers by demonstrating the establishment of effectively designed control objectives and control activities. This helps build trust with customers and ensures that user organizations and their auditors have access to the same information.

Without a current Service Auditor’s Report, a service organization may have to entertain multiple audit requests from its customers and their respective auditors. This can place a strain on resources.

An ISAE 3402 engagement allows a service organization to have its control policies and procedures evaluated and tested by an independent party. Often, this process results in the identification of opportunities for improvements in many operational areas.
