Web Host News – LONDON, UK - OnApp has launched new cloud management apps for iPhone, iPad and Android devices. The new apps provide a wide range of cloud management capabilities for cloud hosts powered by OnApp, and for their customers. iPad and Android are supported for the first time, as well as the ability for cloud providers to rebrand the app on iPhone/iPad. Web Host News - DALLAS — SoftLayer® Technologies, the innovation leader in Cloud, Dedicated, and Managed hosting, today announced the upcoming opening of the company’s new data center in Singapore and network Points of Presence (PoPs) in Singapore, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. Beginning Sept. 23, customers can pre-order services in the new data center, to be deployed when the data center and PoPs officially “go live” on Oct. 3.
“We are excited to bring our unique solutions to hosting to the Asia-Pacific region,” said Lance Crosby, Chief Executive Officer for SoftLayer. “We’ve had an international customer base for quite some time, with almost half of our 23,000 customers coming from more than 140 countries besides the U.S. But we couldn’t be happier to now have a truly international presence, putting our industry-leading solutions so much closer to our customers and their countless end users.”
Designated SNG01, the new data center features the following:
SNG01 and the Tokyo and Hong Kong PoPs feature connectivity from multiple Tier-1 network carriers, including NTT, Tata, and Equinix, with direct network connections to SoftLayer facilities in San Jose and Los Angeles. With the strategic location of the Asia-Pacific operations and the exceptional speed of the SoftLayer network, customers and end users anywhere in the region can connect to SoftLayer services with less than 40ms of latency.
“Everything we do is designed to give customers more control, and this expansion is no different,” said George Karidis, Chief Strategy Officer for SoftLayer. “New and existing customers across the region will now have direct access through the SoftLayer Private Network to our automated platform. They can manage and deploy their Dedicated and Cloud services on their own terms—whether that’s in Singapore or in any of our other data centers. And they can provide an experience that’s better than ever for their end users in the region.”
The opening of the Asia facilities will soon be followed by the launch of SoftLayer’s Amsterdam data center and European PoPs, scheduled for early November. SoftLayer will then have 13 data centers and 16 PoPs worldwide. Each data center is functionally independent with distinct and redundant resources, as well as fully integrated with all SoftLayer facilities. The company’s global network fully integrates three distinct and redundant network architectures—Public, Private, and Data Center to Data Center—into the industry’s first Network-Within-a-Network topology for maximum accessibility, security, and control. Web Host News – ANN ARBOR, Mich. – CloudLinux Inc. makers of CloudLinux OS, the only commercially-supported Linux OS made specifically for shared hosting, today announced that it is now being run on more than 5,000 production servers worldwide, a 100 percent increase in just six months.
CloudLinux isolates each user account within its own Lightweight Virtual Environment (LVE) allowing system administrators to limit CPU, memory, and the concurrent connections available to each server tenant. LVE effectively prevents the, “bad neighbor effect,” wherein one tenant can slow or take down an entire server – the number one cause of shared-server stability issues, making it an ideal platform for shared hosting.
