SoftLayer CEO Lance Crosby Named An Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year

Announced on June 25 at a gala event at the Hyatt Regency Dallas, the prestigious award was decided by an independent judging panel made up of previous winners, leading CEOs, private investors, and regional business leaders.

As a regional winner, Mr. Crosby is a finalist for the national award, to be named at the Entrepreneur of the Year National Awards gala, hosted by Jay Leno, on November 12, 2011, in Palm Springs, California. SoftLayer CEO Named to TechAmerica Foundation’s Commission

Web HostingDALLAS SoftLayer Technologies®, the innovation leader in cloud and on-demand dedicated hosting, today announced that Lance Crosby, Chief Executive Officer, was named as a Commissioner on the TechAmerica Foundation’s Commission on the Leadership Opportunity in U.S. Deployment of the Cloud (CLOUD2).

The commission will make recommendations for how government should deploy cloud technologies and address policies that might hinder U.S. leadership in cloud for the commercial space. Recommendations for government deployment will be presented to Federal Chief Information Officer Vivek Kundra. Commercial-facing recommendations will be shared with Commerce Secretary Gary Locke and Commerce Under Secretary Pat Gallagher.

Nelson, visiting professor of Internet studies in Georgetown University’s Communication, Culture and Technology Program. CSC President of North American Public Sector Jim Sheaffer will serve as vice chairman, leading a task force focused on government adoption of cloud solutions. Microsoft® Corporate Vice President of Technology Policy and Strategy Dan Reed, who also leads the company’s eXtreme Computing Group (XCG), will also serve as vice chairman and will lead a task force focused on U.S. leadership in cloud technologies.
